So... what did we do before Arduino when we wanted to build stuff? Well, the options were really limited, complicated and quite honestly a bit frustrating.
Here is a project I made back in January of 2003 and was one of my first embedded projects I ever made.
I wanted to simulate Santa clause coming down the chimney and getting stuck (turn up the volume).
The design was centered around the popular microchip PIC16F877 which was a bad little microcontroller for its time.
It was interfaced to an ISD2560 sound module from a company called winbond.
The motor control was done via a simple BJT and of course the LED's were controlled directly from the microcontroller.
Notice the burning red led's in the wood sticks.
I built the diorama from scratch, chimney and all!
Are you looking to get started with Arduino or just want an easier way to test concepts, access test points and debug your hardware?
Well then take a look at the Dr.Duino Arduino Uno Starter Kit, It's 4 kits in one!
