We say "Unless you want to" because we do give the option to solder in 3 different parts.
Those three parts are the LDR(1), Relay (2) and temperature sensor (3).
But if you don't want to solder, you don't have to!

Q1: Is soldering Required?
A1: NOPE... Not a single drop of solder is required (Unless you want to). We say unless you want to, because we do give you the option to install 3 different parts by soldering them in, but its optional.
Q2: What are "Foundation" demos?
A2:Like any good physical structure, you need a SOLID foundation upon which to build your home. Foundation Demo code works the same way. It gives you the demo code you need to easily and quickly control the various pieces of hardware in the Inventor without hunting for code snippets on the web which may or may not work. Using our foundation code base, you can be guaranteed everything will just work!
Q3: Does this work with Arduino?
A3: If you are familiar with Arduino, it uses the same exact programming language. And almost every piece of code that works with Arduino, works with this! We say almost because there are some small differences, but don't worry, with PRO version of the kit we tell you exactly what those differences are and how to handle them.
